KMart - Manassas, Virginia

On Sudley road, this is one of those old school Kmart bathrooms located in the back of the store next to Layaway with the puke color decor. One of the cleaner Kmart bathrooms I've been in, its above average for a discount store toilet but just passing on the OTPIP grading system. The aroma is reminiscent of week-old garbage.

BWI Baggage Claim - Baltimore, MD

I forget where this place was in the airport. I was still recovering
from the cosmos.

A&W/Crown - BWI Airport Baltimore

The toilet seat is loose so if you are a cover gal please use caution. Faucet is misleading. Looks like a turn or pull but actually a push. This place is only one exit from the airport. The A&W is 24 HOURS!

La Porta's Restaurant - Alexandria. Virginia

Maybe it's the goood wedding vibes in the air, or maybe it's the four cosmopolitans I've had, but this is an awesome bathroom. Well maybe not awesome, but pretty good. The food was great too!

Dairy Queen - Fairfax, Virginia

Located in a shopping center at the corner of Lee Hwy and Jermantown Rd, this DQ sits between an Indian buffet and a "Halal" grocery. The single room bathroom is tucked in the back of the store. No key is needed but it would take serious cajones to stroll past the shopkeeper's watchful eye without making a purchase. No toilet paper- definitely a hover situation because there is nothing to cover with. Ample paper towels and a relatively clean fresh atmosphere make up for the loud fan and lack of TP. My Blizzard did not pass the upside-down thickness test so overall I would say you could probably do better.

Criteria

So I'm thinking I need to set some guidelines for myself when actually reviewing public restrooms. What concerns do women have when searching for a toilet?

(I really don't mean to leave the men out, but who are we kidding? You guys can go just about anywhere.)

Certain things I notice when I first walk into a ladies room are:

  • Is it a single or are there stalls?
  • How clean is it? Smelly?
  • Is it safe to cover or necessary to hover?
  • Is there adequate toilet paper/seat covers?
  • If I dropped a personal item on the floor, would I pick it up or burn it?
  • How sound-proof is the room?
  • Paper towels or hand dryers?
  • Are the toilets, sinks, dryers, and towel dispensers automatic, or manual?

There can be no universal grading system for ladies rooms since some gals prefer to always hover and some prefer hand dryers over paper towels. This will take some further consideration. Please leave a comment if you have any ideas.

Oh The Places I've Peed

I am an actor. I have to go to a lot of random places to do a lot of random things. Usually I get to the point where I have to find a bathroom. This is the story of those bathrooms, the struggles to find them, and the satisfaction of discovering a comfy clean commode.
